Lorraine Schroeder Obituary
LORRAINE SCHROEDER ROCKFORD - Lorraine Schroeder of Rockford, went to Heaven to celebrate her 90th birthday with the Lord on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, in Anam Care of Rockford. Her family takes comfort knowing she celebrated her first and last birthday with her Lord. She was born in Milwaukee; the daughter of Frank and Susan (Stark) Schneck. Lorraine married Kenneth Schroeder on Feb. 15, 1944, in Norfolk, Va.; he died June 21, 1994. She was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic minister in church and in visits to nursing homes for 20 years, led a Bible study group for many years, and served on the board of the Holy Family Women's Guild and the Catholic Women's League. Lorraine also enjoyed baking bread which she took to the residents of St. Anne Center. She was a member of the St. Anthony Hospital Board, where she was active as a Pink Lady for many years and the co-chair of the Pink Ball. She was also a member of Forest Hills Country Club and enjoyed her time as a leader for both the Boy Scouts of America and the Girl Scouts of America. Lorraine loved walking, and she was able to enjoy her seven-mile walks every day until she was 80 years old. Lorraine's family meant the world to her, and she lovingly leaves behind her children, Robert (Anna) Schroeder and Suzanne Bachrodt of Rockford; grandchildren, Rachel Bachrodt, Rebecca (Dan) Maguire, Patrick Bachrodt, Jonathan (Amanda) Schroeder, and Ann Marie and Thomas Schroeder; great-grandchildren, Isabella and Mya Schroeder; Madeline, Liam and Lily Maguire, Adelaide and Andrew Bachrodt; siblings, Millie Seibel and Marilyn Stenzel; nephew and Godson, Eddie (Tricia) Stenzel; nephew, Todd Stenzel; and cousins, Ethel and Carol Radmer. Predeceased also by brothers-in-law, Donald Seibel and Ed Stenzel; and cousin, Dorothy Radmer. Special thanks to her many caregivers, including Andje Vuckovic, who loved Lorraine like a mother, and Augusta Kportufa, as well as the staff of Anam Care and Heartland Hospice. Lorraine gave the ultimate gift that she could by donating her body to science to further the study of treatments for Alzheimer's.
