LYLE R. CHAMPLIN, 78 ROCKFORD - Lyle R. Champlin, 78, of Rockford, died suddenly Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, in his home. He was born April 8, 1934, in Beloit, Wis.; son of Grant and Alexene Champlin. Lyle was one of six child-ren. After serving in the Army, Lyle married the love of his life, Patricia Peterson on May 14, 1955. They were married 57 years. Patricia died June 28, 2012. Lyle retired from General Forging Die and also worked at the former Bob's Hardware. He enjoyed helping people and talking to them. Lyle and Pattie had three children; Bud (Janet) Champlin, Brian (Kelly) Champlin and Cindy Lou. He loved both of his grandsons, Ty Champlin and Connor Champlin. He is survived by two sons; brothers, Harold and Kenny Champlin; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased also by daughter, Cindy Lou; sisters, Betty and Caroline; and brother, Bud. Lyle got his biggest Christmas wish, to see his Pattie again. They spent the New Year together with the Lord. Memorial service at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, with Pastor Roger Carlson officiating.
