Mary Borst Obituary
MARY 'BETTY' ELIZABETH BORST AUG. 25 1925 TO AUG. 8, 2012 ROCKFORD - The World lost one of its most wonderful human beings when Betty Borst passed away Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012. Those fortunate enough to have been a part of her life knew her as a loving, generous, selfless person who nurtured and supported an extended family and friends. She was passionate about her garden, the birds she enticed onto her Kirkland property, and life. Betty and her dear husband of 63 years, Richard "Dick" Borst, enjoyed many gatherings with friends (especially their "Club" group of 62 years), travels throughout the world, and raising their four children. They shared picnics on their river, home-cooked meals from the bounty of the garden, and day trips to the riverboat casino. Betty was an artist, cook, baker, canner, seamstress and non-stop participant in life. She gave freely of herself and possessions. She will be deeply missed by husband, Dick; daughters, Karen (Doug) Gill of Kirkland, Gayle Borst of Austin, Texas and Diane (Barry) Fitz of Winnebago; son, Rick (Donna)n Borst Wever, Iowa; sister, Dorothy Gustafson; grandchildren, Kate, Anna, Ryan and Alyssa; great-niece, Kirsten Borst; and many other relatives and friends. Our matriarch is gone and life will not be the same. She made holidays, celebrations and our lives extra special. But her spirit will forever reside within us and she will not be forgotten. Christenson Funeral Home & Crematory is handling arrangements. For more information, rockfordfunerals.com.
