MARY D. OLDENBURG ROCKFORD - Mary D. Oldenburg, faithful wife, devoted mother, fondly remembered aunt, thoughtful friend, cherished grandmother, and animal lover went to be with God and her deceased loved ones on Wednesday, March 6, 2013. Born December 11, 1918, in Woodbury, New Jersey to Josiah Ellis and Amelia (Ayles) DuBois. Mary graduated high school at 15, and went on to receive her Masters of Education and French teaching certificate from the University of Pennsylvania. After graduation she taught high school French and Spanish. Mary had a love for foreign language and culture. She married Trevison Oldenburg on June 14, 1952. Survived by children; Susan (John) Riege and Jeff (Angela) Oldenburg; grandsons, Tyler and Zachary; sister, Doris Burnisky; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents; husband, Trevison; brothers, Josiah, Herbert, Matthias, Louis, Earl, and John; sister, Elise (Ted) Pratt. Services at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory, Rockford chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Rd. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family would like to extend their gratitude to nephew, Dr. Michael Pratt for his loving care.
