Michael Marshall Paslay 1955—2018
Michael Marshall Paslay, 62, of Rockford, died Monday, September 10, 2018, at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. Born October 27, 1955, in Rockford, the son of Harry Marshall and Margaret Magdeline (Lagan) Paslay. Graduated from Winnebago High School in 1974, and Rock Valley College in Rockford with an Associate Degree in Police Science. He was a Police Officer and Chief for the Village of Winnebago and a Police Officer for the Village of Cherry Valley, and retired as a Senior Deputy for the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police with the Winnebago County Lodge #50 in Rockford where he served as Sergeant of Arms and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Club in Rockford. He enjoyed fishing on Puckaway Lake in Wisconsin with his longtime and very good friend, Pat James, gardening and telling stories. Mike is survived by his sister, Linda Pulizzi of Rockford; very good friend, Pat James of Rockford; several cousins; fellow officers, caring neighbors and beloved pet Maggie. Mike is predeceased by his parents; nephew, Brian Michael Pulizzi.
Funeral service 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago, with Father William R. Wentink officiating. Interment at Calvary Cemetery near Winnebago. Visitations 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, September 17, 2018, at the funeral home and one hour prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
