Obituary Condolences

MILDRED E. BALENTINE, 81 BELVIDERE - Mildred E. Balentine, 81, of Belvidere passed away Friday, Sept. 30, 2011, in her home, with her family by her side. Born Dec. 3, 1929, in Arkansas, the daughter of Richard and Lillie Lawrence. Attended schools in Arkansas and Rockford Engineering School. Married Hartford Balentine on July 20, 1946, in Marshall, Ark., and they celebrated their 65th anniversary on July 20, 2011. A Belvidere resident for 50 years. She worked at GTE Automatic in Genoa before retiring. Member of Belvidere First Assembly of God Church for 50 years, where she taught Sunday School for 29 years and served the children's church and the teen's group. Mildred loved to tend her beautiful flower garden. Survived by husband, Hartford Balentine; daughters, Carol Beasley of Belvidere, Linda (David) Patterson of Rockford; grandchildren, Brian (Tammy) Beasley, Mike Beasley, Rene Hansen, Heidi Hansen and Sherry Beasley; great-grandchildren, Chad (Kathy) Beasley, Nicole Beasley, Leah Beasley, Erica (Keith) Vanacker and Kiryn Prochnicki; great-great-grandchildren, Emma, Landon, Leila and Daniel; brothers, Benny (Rose)Lawrence of southern Illinois, Silas (Nell) Lawrence of Montana, Darrell (Chris) Lawrence of Wisconsin; sisters, Dorothy Stroup of Modesto, Calif., and Lillie (Oscar) McGee of Ripon, Calif. Predeceased by her parents; sisters, Georgia Hoig and Dallas McKee; brother, Carl Lawrence; and best friend, Ellen Leonard. Service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, in Belvidere Funeral Home, with visitation from 10 a.m. to time of service; the Rev. Dale Anderson, pastor of Belvidere First Assembly of God Church will officiate. Interment in Shattucks Grove Cemetery.
