NICHOLAS J. BANNO, 71 ROSCOE - Nicholas J. Banno, 71, of Roscoe, IL, died Monday, September 16, 2013, in his home. He was born August 25, 1942, in Chicago, IL, the son of Joseph and Theresa (Palumbo) Banno. Nicholas was a 1960 graduate of St. Leo High School, Chicago, IL, and also graduated from Rockford College. He married Helene Firestone on February 27, 1965, in Chicago, IL. Nicholas was employed by Fairbanks Morse as the credit manager, retiring in 2000. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren's sporting events, bowling, the outdoors, camping and fishing. Nicholas was member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, the Loyal Order of the Moose #191, and the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He was a former member of the Marine Corp League. Survivors include his wife, Helene Banno of Roscoe, IL; children, Joseph (Geri) Banno of Beloit, WI, Nicholas Banno of Fort Worth, TX, Anthony Banno of Rockton, IL, and Theresa (Bryan) Zowin of Peoria, IL; grandchildren, Alexis, Stephen, Anthony and Sophia; his mother, Theresa Banno; brother, Joseph (Tami) Banno; sisters, Kathleen (Tim) Smiles and Donna Novak; many nieces and nephews; and longtime friend and bowling partner, Bob Chips. He was predeceased by his father, Joseph Banno. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 21, 2013, in St. Thomas Catholic Church, 824 E. Grand Ave., Beloit, WI, with Fr. John Hedrick officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Thabor Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI; with a Scripture service at 3:45 p.m. Visitation will also be from 10 a.m. until the time of service Saturday in the church.
