Obituary Condolences

OCIE MAE HUGHES, 85 ROCKFORD - Ocie Mae Hughes, 85, was taken from her family and friends on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, but now joins her Lord and Savior. Born Jan. 13, 1927, in Arkansas to Andrew and Roberta (Box) Holliman. Ocie worked for more than 30 years as a machine operator for Valspar Paint Co. Always fulfilling her role as a servant to God, she was co-founder of the House of Refuge Church. She was a hard worker and her efforts were reflected in her yard and garden. Ocie came to the aid of many people. She loved and cared for her family and had many friends. She was affectionately looked after by her niece, Nicole Holliman and great-granddaughter, Alyssa. Survived by son, Nathan (Shelly) Hughes; brothers, Clyde (Lucille) Holliman; many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Predeceased by parents; son, Ronald; brothers, Charles and Rufus Holliman; and sister, Loise Jack. Service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at New Zion Church, 604 Salter Ave., Rockford, with visitation from 10 a.m. to time of service; Pastor K. Edward Copeland will officiate.
