PHYLLIS MICHAUX DICKINSON, 98 PLEASANT HILL, Tenn. - Phyllis Michaux Dickinson, 98, of Pleasant Hill passed away Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, in Wharton Nursing Home at Uplands Village, Pleasant Hill, Tenn. She was born April 9, 1914, in Dedham, Mass., daughter of Albert Merrill and Alice Edna (Palmer) Strong. She graduated from Evanston High School 1932 and Northern Illinois State Teachers College 1936. Phyllis and Dr. William Francis Michaux DDS were married on the Northwestern University's campus in 1937, moved to Byron, Ill., in 1938, retired to Orange City, Fla., in 1975. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of both Byron and Orange City. Phyllis was a Eastern Star member, Girl Scout leader, flutist in the Byron and Uplands Village Ensemble, flutist for the Rockford Symphony, part-time librarian in Byron, Orange City and Pleasant Hill, Tenn., a participant in the Uplands Village Under Shepherd Ministry, school teacher, enjoyed telling jokes and the mother of four children. Dr. Wm. F. Michaux passed away in 1995, in Orange City and in 1996, Phyllis moved to Uplands (Retirement) Village in Pleasant Hill, where she later married the Rev. Leon Dickinson. Those living to carry on her legacy of love and giving are children, Ann (Michaux) Kehler (Larry) of St. Louis, Mo., Wm. F. Michaux III of Byron, Merri Strong (Michaux) Bentsen (Robert) of Rawlins, Wyo., Rev Daniel Farrar Michaux (Trudi) of Orange City; stepdaughter, Marian K Anderson of Lunenburg, Mass.; stepson, John E Dickinson of Tequesta, Fla.; 14 grand-children; 35 great-grand-children; and 16 great-great- grandchildren. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; son, W F Michaux, infant; husband, Dr. Wm. F. Michaux; brother, Merrill Palmer Strong; niece, Leslie Anne Strong; grandson, Ronald Kent Holloway; stepson, Thomas C. Brown; and husband, Rev Leon Dickinson. A Celebration of Life service was held Friday, Feb. 1, at the Pleasant Hill Community Church, Pleasant Hill, Tenn. The service was conducted by the Rev. Tom Warren and family members. Burial was in Uplands Village Memorial Gardens. The family requests donations be made to Uplands Village or Pleasant Hill Community Church in Pleasant Hill, Tenn., 38578.
