PHYLLIS 'BABE' M. SEVERSON, 90 ROCKFORD - Phyllis "Babe" M. Severson, 90, of Rockford passed away Sunday, May 15, 2011, at Morning Star Village. Born April 24, 1921, in Rockford; daughter of Phillip E. and Elsie (Mumma) Colvin. She graduated from Rockford Central High School, Class of 1939. Phyllis married Sigurd Severson on Sept. 27, 1941, in Rockford. He passed away Oct. 10, 1981, in Rockford. She was a member of Second Congregational United Church of Christ and was actively involved in adult choir, senior bell choir, choir guild, choir mother, sanctuary guild and deaconess. Phyllis was also the director of volunteers at SwedishAmerican Hospital from 1969 to 1970, and a volunteer in the emergency room for many years. Former member of the Rockford Women's Club. Worker and usher for Community Concert Association, Mendelssohn Club and Guild of Rockford Symphony. Survived by sons, Gary (Julie) Severson and Richard (Deborah) Severson, both of Rockford; daughters, Janise (Tom) Kline and Sandra Spitzmiller, both of Roscoe, and Susan (John) Anderson of Rockton; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Kathryn Klint of Rockford; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents; her husband, Sigurd; sisters, Leta Cutting and Helen Johnson; brothers, Charles, Fredrick, Harry and Robert Colvin. Special thanks to Morning Star Village, Transitions Hospice and her special neighbor and friend, Pat Nelson for their care and kindness. Memorial service at 2:30 p.m. Friday, May, 20, at Second Congregational United Church of Christ, 318 N. Church St., with memorial visitation from 1:30 p.m. to time of service; the Rev.
