RAYMOND CURTISS FALNES HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE, Ark. - Raymond Curtiss Falnes passed away Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at Village Springs Health and Rehabilitation. He was born March 2, 1927, in Austin, Minn., to John and Esther Falnes. Ray served in the Navy at the end of World War II. He married Merilyn Falnes on May 28, 1949, in Rockford, Ill. He spent his working career with various automobile repair facilities in Rockford. He and Merilyn built two homes in Rockford, they enjoyed years of camping and water skiing on Wisconsin lakes before building their lake house on Apple Canyon Lake, Ill. In 1984, they retired to Hot Springs Village, where Ray enjoyed making new friends, golfing, bowling, totem pole and character wood carving. He is survived by two sons, Alan (Valarie) of Appleton, Wis., and Ronald of Waukesha, Wis.; five grandchildren, Kristen, Ryan (Trine), Curtis, Rebecca and Chelsea; five great-grandchildren, Isabel, Yoni, Annabelle, Alex and Theo; sister, Sandra; and brother, Gary. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Merilyn, who passed away in December 2012; brothers, Virgil and Donald; sister, Marilyn; and grandson, Matthew. Visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at Caruth Village Funeral Home, 4623 Arkansas 7, Hot Springs Village. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Village United Methodist Church, 200 Carmona Rd., Hot Springs Village, AR. The family would like to thank the Lester Dierksen Memorial Hospice for their care of Ray.
