REBECCA A.M. GLENN, 93 LOVING MOTHER, GRANDMOTHER AND GREAT-GRANDMOTHER ROCKFORD - Rebecca A. M. Glenn, 93, was called to her heavenly home on Monday, October 21, 2013, surrounded by family members, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Born in Santiago, Minnesota on January 30, 1920, the daughter of William and Hulda (Scharff) Hinz. Rebecca graduated from Sterling High School in 1939. On October 13, 1940, Rebecca married the love of her life, Harland R. Glenn in Sterling, Illinois. They were together 45 wonderful years before he passed on December 22, 1985. She enjoyed her children and grandchildren, family gatherings, knitting, homemaking and vacations at their second home in Black River Falls, Wisconsin. Rebecca's faith was renewed and strengthened as an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, volunteering, LWML, Sunday school teacher, and the St. Paul School PTL Board. Survived by her children, David (Karyn) Glenn of Lincoln, Nebraska, Martha (Jon) Stroberg, Cynthia (Kenneth) Lipps, Catherine (Richard) Rundblade of Rockford, Illinois, Paul (Lucinda) Glenn of Beaverton, Oregon, Brian (Cathe) Glenn of Winnebago, Illinois and Bradley (Lori) Glenn of Belvidere, Illinois; twenty grandchildren and thirty-four great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Sanders of Rock Falls, Illinois, brother, Thomas Hinz of West Allis, Wisconsin; brother-in-law, Lawrence Glenn of Dixon, Illinois; sister-in-law, Margaret Glenn Fisher of Lanark, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by husband, Harland; grandsons, Jeffrey and Jeremy Glenn; parents; brothers, Donald and Emil Hinz; and sister, Anita Stralow. A special "Thank You" to P. A. Peterson Home staff and Northern Illinois HOSPICE for the excellent care and compassion shown to Rebecca and her family. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2013, in St. Paul Lutheran Church, 600 N. Horsman, Rockford. Visitation from 9 a.m. to service time. Rev. David Thies and Rev. Frank Ciprys will officiate. Burial in Willwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Paul Lutheran School or Northern Illinois HOSPICE.
