Renita Louise Roden 1957—2018
Renita Louise Roden, 61, of Poplar Grove, IL passed away Friday, May 11, 2018, in Fond Du Lac, WI, in the arms of her beloved husband, after an 8 year battle with Neurological Lyme's Disease. The daughter of the late Allan and Elouise (Greene) Poland, Renita was born Friday, January 11, 1957, in Cincinnati, OH. She attended Judson College and went on to marry the love of her life, Mark Roden, on Saturday, May 20, 1978, in Cincinnati, OH. Renita and her husband proudly established M&R Custom Millwork in 1980. She was a member of Belvidere Area Chamber of Commerce and board member for 6 years and received the Distinguished Citizen Award in 2006. She also served as president in 2009. Her main concern was the children of her community. Renita co-chaired 2 school referendums for Belvidere North High School and was proud to help bring so many opportunities to the young adults of Belvidere, IL. She was instrumental in planning the original "Hometown Christmas" in Belvidere, IL, as well as many other Belvidere Area Chamber of Commerce fundraisers. Renita was a member of Zonta Club of Belvidere. So if your kids and grandkids play sports or are cheerleaders or in the band or spend time in the library or auto shop or the debate team or any other school function that keeps them motivated to stay in school and try hard, don't forget about Renita's dedication to their dreams. Think about Renita Roden. She is loved and will be deeply missed by her beloved husband, Mark; sister, Marilyn (Jerry) Daiker; nieces and nephews, Jeffrey Daiker, Andrew Daiker, Sam Roden, Sarah Roden; mother-in-law, Patricia Roden; brothers-inlaw, Gary Roden, Larry Roden; sister-in-law, Teresa (Dan) Roden Cox; aunts, Mary Lou Bergman, Peggy Bergman; special friend, Tim Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Will Carrol; father-in-law, George Roden; uncle, Bob Bergman; sister-in-law, Marilyn Roden. A special thank you to her 3 caregivers, the staff at the hospital, her family, and friends who were all like "Angels on Earth" and kept Renita in their prayers through the long battle she endured.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at Belvidere Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Belvidere, IL. Visitation also from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, May 17, 2018, at Belvidere Funeral Home & Cremation Service, with a celebration of life to begin at 11 a.m.; Rev. Bob Camacho officiating. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in the family's name. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.belviderefh.com.
