ROBERT W. AINSWORTH, 90 BELVIDERE - Robert W. Ainsworth, 90, of Belvidere passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at HomeBridge Center, Belvidere. He was born Oct. 11, 1922, in Belvidere, the son of Charles and Ida (Leonhardt) Ainsworth. A lifelong Belvidere and Rockford area resident. Robert served in the U.S. Navy during WWII aboard P.T. boats. He married the late Evelyn E. Woznieski on April 25, 1946, in Belvidere. He worked as a machinist for Sundstrand Corp., until retiring. A member of St. James Catholic Church, Belvidere. A member of VFW John Hugo Kaiser Post #1461, American Legion Boone Post #77 and P.T. Boats. Inc. He is survived by his sons, Michael B. (Bonnie) Ainsworth, Cherry Valley, Stephen R. (Connie) Ainsworth, South Beloit; daughters, Marilyn (Ron) Goepfert, Rockford, Virginia (James) Sorg, Rockford, Carol Buchanan, South Carolina; grandchildren, Tony Arco, Luke Sorg, Doug Sorg, Michelle Buchanan, Mike Buchanan Jr., Kelcy Ainsworth, Kaitlyn Ainsworth, Hayley Ainsworth; great-grandchildren, Cassie Arco, Ian Sorg, Dustin Buchanan, Colton Buchanan, Ried Buchanan, Nolan Buchanan, River Buchanan; brother, Merrill Ainsworth, Grand Junction, Colo. Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn; great- granddaughter, Mya Buchanan; six brothers; three sisters; son-in-law, Michael Buchanan. Funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9, in Belvidere Funeral Home, with the Rev. Thomas Bartolomeo of St. James Catholic Church officiating. Interment in Belvidere Cemetery.
