Robert Larson Obituary

Robert D. Larson, 80 ROCKFORD - Robert D. Larson, 80, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 5, 2011, surrounded by his family. Born Jan. 30, 1931, in Rockford, the son of George and Lillian Larson. He was a U.S. veteran of the Navy, serving during the Korean conflict. Married his loving wife, Jeanine Youngberg, on Nov. 28, 1952, in Rockford and enjoyed 58 years of many wonderful adventures with each other, their children and grandchildren. He took great pride in his life's work as the past president of Youngberg Industries in Belvidere, semi-retiring in the '90s. Bob loved to return to the shop to visit his many cherished and longtime friends that he had built relationships with over the years. His love for his family and friends gave him great joy throughout his life. He never had an idle moment as he enjoyed spending time fishing, going "up north," planting flowers, woodworking, shopping at home centers, lending a hand and talking to just about anyone that crossed his path. He was a Mason, Shriner and an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He was a great man who will be missed by all who loved and knew him. Survivors include his wife, Jeanine; children, Tom (Denise) Larson, Bill (LaRae) Larson, Mike (Kami) Larson, Joan (John) O'Malley and Lynette (Todd) Spears; grandchildren, Beth (Ryan) Newberry, Erica (Nate Welte) Larson, Kari (Mark) Clarey, Zac and Alex Larson, Kellen, Brett and Ann O'Malley, Tory, Tyler and Trevor Spears; great-grandchildren, Brieann Welte and Emma Clarey; sister, Carol Rion; and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents; sister, Phyllis; and brother, Roger. The family would like to thank Dr. Tom Michalsen and Dr. Ajaz Khan for their continued care and support, and the many nurses and staff at OSF Saint Anthony Hospital and Cancer Center. A celebration of Bob's life will be at 5 p.m. Monday, May 23, in Franchesco's Restaurant, 7128 Spring Creek Road. Please join the family and share your wonderful memories, moments and stories about Bob in an open-house atmosphere. Express condolences online at www.fitzgeraldfh.com.

"So sorry to hear about your loss. We will miss Bob this summer at Sonco. He added so much charisma every time he came in. He would talk to everyone and anyone at the Test Center as if they had always been friends. Even though it is a great loss, he will leave behind so much in the hearts of everyone he had touched!" Dear Jeanine/Tom and family:

Kathie and I have been a part of the Larson tradition of summer visits to Cedar Crest Resort for 40 years. We recall Bob and his group of guys gathering for opening and the summer week or two with the family each late July/early August.

We now enjoy those times with Tom and his family. We want you to know how much we enjoyed those earlier times and periodic visits. Bob's concern for others, humor and positive impact on many lives will be a wonderful legacy.

Please know that Kathie and I are thinking about you and your family as you celebrate his life.

Love
Dempsey and Kathie Worner

My heartfelt prayers to Carol, Joan and the rest of the family. I have known Bob since I was a very little girl on 30th Street and over the years been updated on him through Joan who is a close friend of my son, Per Brodin. I've always looked up to Bob, he was a kind and great man.
