ROLLAND DEAN SLAGLE, 52 BELVIDERE - Rolland Dean Slagle, 52, passed away Monday, Sept. 27, 2010, in OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center, surrounded by his family and friends. Born May 13, 1958, in Duluth, Minn., to Kaye (Miller) and Charles Slagle. He attended Belvidere High School, gradu-ating in 1977. On Dec. 17, 1979, he married Teresa (Terry) Crass of Tomahawk, Wis. He lived in Duluth, Minn., and LaFarge, Wis., before settling in Belvidere, where he was employed at Chrysler Corp, Warner Electric, Elgiloy Specialty Metals and was a certified CNA. Rolland will be especially remembered for his kindness to others, enthusiasm for life, and forgiveness to all. He had an extraordinary amount of perseverance and strength to overcome his physical challenges to the amazement of his family and friends. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and meeting and talking to new people. His favorite quote: "A friend is a hello away." Survivors include wife, Terry; sons, Jason Slagle and Danny Slagle; daughter, Tanya Gandee; and mother, Kaye Slagle, all of Belvidere; siblings, Russell (Lisa) Slagle of Loves Park, Marilyn Spradling of Belvidere and Dawn (Cliff) Rogers of Capron; grandchildren, Trent, Dezarae, Kayelene, Miranda and Travis; and numerous nephews and a niece. Predeceased by father, Charles Slagle; and brothers, Rodney Slagle and Mark Slagle. The family would like to extend their gratitude and thanks for the special care, comfort and compassion shown by the third-floor staff at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center. Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, in Belvidere Funeral Home, 203 Logan Ave., Belvidere. Burial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, in Bear Creek Cemetery, LaFarge, Wis. Remembrances may be made in the form desired by friends.
