Ruby Arnett Obituary

RUBY R. ARNETT, 93 ROCKFORD - Ruby R. Arnett, 93, of Rockford died peacefully Tuesday, May 10, 2011, in Medina Manor, Durand. Born Nov. 9, 1917, near Shell Lake, Wis. Ruby graduated from Spooner High School in 1938. She then moved to Chicago with two sisters and a cousin during World War II. She worked at American Manufacturing until she married George H. Arnett in 1950 in Chicago. They moved to Rockford when George became employed with Barber-Colman. Ruby worked for Amerock until the birth of her first child. Ruby then became a full-time mother and homemaker for 25 years. She then returned to the work force and worked for Pierce Chemicals for five years before retiring. She was very involved with church activities, being a Sunday school teacher for 18 years, was in charge of crafts for Vacation Bible School, and was a member of the Ladies Guild. During her retirement Ruby, volunteered at Meet and Eat. She also enjoyed sewing, making stuffed animals for children in need, sewing Barbie clothes, quilts and many of her own clothes, and she loved to paint. Ruby will be sorely missed as an excellent mother and a true Christian. Survived by children, R. Elizabeth A. (William) Holt of Lake Summerset and Phillip T. (Pamela) Arnett of Pecatonica; siblings, Vernon R. (Dolores) Tripp of Spooner, Wis., and Joy J. Parker of St. Paul, Minn.; stepgrandchildren, William H. (Melodie) Holt of Durand, Jacquelyn (Robert) Pryor of Broken Arrow, Okla., Allyn A. (David) Miller of Lake Summerset and Heather L. Pettenger of Rockford; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; two stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband; siblings, Opal Carlson, Crystal Stuart and Violet Rucker; and stepgrandson, Bradley Holt. Service at 2 p.m. Monday, May 16, in Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services, with visitation from 1 p.m. to time of service. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army. Dear Ruthie and Philip and family, My prayers are with you during your sadness. I don't know if you remember me about I lived with Opal and Grandma for about 3 years. I remember visiting in Rockford and all the "Barbie clothes" your Mom had made. I was impressed. I was probably 8 or 9 years old. Thank you for sharing the pictures. Such wonderful memories.
