SANDRA VIVIAN COLLINS BLOOMINGTON - Sandra Vivian Collins, of Bloomington, departed this earthly life Saturday, March 16, 2013, in her home surrounded by her family after a long illness. She was born June 22, 1951 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania the daughter of Benjamin and Bernice Nolan. Sandra lived in Bloomington since 1984 arriving from Galesburg. She married Eric Collins, August 20, 1983, in Rockford. She was employed as food manager by Sugar Creek Alzheimer's Care Center. Sandra was a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church serving as, coordinator with her husband of the Married Couple Ministry, teacher of Children Membership, Sunday School Teacher and former Girl scout Leader at the church. She was a member of the American Diatec Association and a member of Cursillo and a member of the N.I.U. Gospel Choir while in college. Sandra graduated from Edgewood Regional High School class of. She graduated from Southern Illinois University with Bachelors Degree in Home Economics, Northern Illinois University receiving a Bachelors Degree in Dietetics and received her Master Degree in Nutrition from University of Wisconsin Stout. Sandra leaves to cherish many loving memories, her devoted and loving husband, Eric; two daughters, Candace and Sylvia Collins; sister, Christine Nolan; brother, Benjamin Nolan II; mother-in-law, Ruby Collins; nieces, Syreeta and Cara Woodson, and April Nolan-Barton; nephew, Benjamin Nolan III; a host of other relatives and friends, including, special cousins, Kenny and David Alston, Ted and Elsie Erwin, and Alice Bell and Eddie Brooks. She was predeceased by her parents. Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 23, at Union Missionary Baptist Church, 509 W. Jackson Street, in Bloomington, IL. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday March 23, at East Lawn Memorial Gardens. Final arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home, 2429 W/State Street Rockford, IL.
