SHIRLEY H. MADISON, 75 LOVES PARK - Shirley H. Madison, 75, of Loves Park died Saturday, July 28, 2012, at home, surrounded by family. Born Aug. 10, 1936, in Rockford, daughter of Homer and Louella "Peg" (Sabin) Bankson. Married Charles Madison on Oct. 15, 1951; he died in 2002. She and Chuck owned and operated Madison Gun Shop for more than 30 years. Shirley wrote the LuLu Lumps newspaper column in the Loves Park Post, dispensing advice for more than 20 years. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, volunteered with Harlem School PTA and was a dedicated supporter of the NRA. Shirley enjoyed cooking and tending to her flowers. She loved her family, never missing a birthday or anniversary. She was a people person. Survivors include children, Dave (Donna) Madison, Debra (Peter) Steiniger, Chuck (Barb), Jim (Doreen) and Tom (Sunni) Madison; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Donnie (Marilyn) Bankson; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers, Jack, Elmo and Billy Bankson. The family wishes to thank Deb and Peter, Lynette Smith, Theresa Johnson and Hospice Care of America for all their help during this difficult time. Service will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, at Delehanty Funeral Home Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Machesney Park.
