Shirley Storsveen Obituary

SHIRLEY G. STORSVEEN, 76 ROCKFORD - Shirley G. Storsveen, 76, of Rockford died Wednesday, May 25, 2011, in Rockford Memorial Hospital. Born Aug. 14, 1934, in Winona, Minn., the daughter of Phillip and Leora (Perkins) Leighton. Graduated from Houston High School and from nurses training in Minnesota. Formerly employed by Winona General Hospital. Married Leroy Storsveen on March 24, 1956, in Money Creek, Minn., before moving to Rockford in 1967. Employed by VNA as an LPN and formerly was an assistant nurse at Rockford College for 12 years. Member of Third Presbyterian Church. Survivors include husband, Leroy; son, Leighton (Shelly) Storsveen of Onalaska, Wis.; grandson, Erik LaPier; nephew, Brad; and niece, Beth. Predeceased by parents; daughter; and a sister. Memorial service at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at Third Presbyterian Church, 1221 Custer Ave., with visitation from 2 p.m. to service time; the Rev. Murray Hanson will officiate. I will always remember the great times we had in Lang Health Center at Rockford College, at VNA and all of the birthday celebrations at the Royal Dragon. Shirley was a good friend to all and was generous with her sage and often humorous advice. May God give her family peace and the joy of fond memories.
