Valerie Stults Obituary
VALERIE L. STULTS, 52 LOVING WIFE, MOTHER, GRANDMOTHER AND SISTER MACHESNEY PARK - Valerie (McLaughlin) Stults, 52, of Machesney Park, was called to the Lord on June 22, 2013, at home, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous eight-month battle with advanced-stage uterine cancer. Born October 8, 1960, in Rockford to Barb and Wally McLaughlin, Val was a Machesney Park resident since 1980. Val attended Rockford Public elementary schools and Winnebago middle and high schools. She met the love of her life in December 1978 and then married him, James A. Stults, on April 26, 1980. In 1982, their first born, Nicole M. Stults, came into this world followed by Stephanie L. Stults in 1986. Between the years 2004 and 2007, Val was blessed with three grandchildren, Mason, Carson, and Lola. Family and friends were Val's passion and delight. She also had many interests that included summers in her pool, her flower gardens, animals (especially her Irish Setter, Sable), bird watching, and sports-"Da Bears". Val was a devoted lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the choir. She also had a deep commitment to her employer, Rockford Health System, and to her co-workers/friends, but especially to Bobbi, her boss, who held a special place in her heart. Val is affectionately survived by her husband of 33 years, Jim Stults; her daughters, Nicole Marie and Stephanie Lynn Stults; her grandchildren, Mason, Carson, and Lola Shearer; and her sister, Vicki (Italo) Musa. She was predeceased by her parents, Barb and Wally McLaughlin, in 2001. On Val's behalf, her family would like to extend a special thank you to VNA Hospice, especially to Beverly. Funeral service 11 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2013, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 200 N. First Street, Rockford, Pastor Jay Quinn officiating. A gathering to celebrate Val's life will take place Friday, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Visitation 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2013, at Sunset Funeral Home.
