VIOLA D. 'SKOOKIE' HOLLOWAY ROCKFORD - Viola D. "Skookie" Holloway, of Rockford departed this earthly life Tuesday, July 30, 2013 in her home. She was born December 10, 1943 in Belzoni, MS; the daughter of Enos Sr. and Bessie Franklin. Viola lived in Rockford since 1990 coming from Detroit, MI. She was a home health aid several years and a Certified Nurses Assistant by Wesley Willows. She was a volunteer as a Chaplin at the Winnebago County Jail for over 20 years. Viola was a Ordained Minister at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church serving on the Hospitality Committee, Sunday School and Vacation Bible School Teacher, member of the Choir, recently being certified to teach at the District. She graduated from Mcnair High School in Belzoni. Viola leaves to cherish many loving memories, two daughters, Ruth Brinson and Amonica (Corey) Mabry; three sons, Vernon Franklin, Rufus Jr. (Hilda) Van and Andre (Tracey) Van Sr.; 20 grandchildren including special granddaughter who she raised, TaKesha Ford, five great grandchild; six sisters Veretta Fraklin, Esteen (Raymond) Wilson, Mary Mann, Wanda Anderson, Almetha Williams and Zadie Tisdale; four brothers, Enos (Beatrice) Franklin Jr., Anthony (Maudree) Franklin, Roy Lee (Iloma) Stiff and Pizarro Stiff; a host of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, four brothers, and one sisters. Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 6, at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church 2919 19th Street with the Rev. Gerald Lumpkins officiating. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home 2429 W. State Street.
