WAYNE BIRKHOLZ, 75 loving father, proud grandfather and proud great-grandfather ROCKFORD - Wayne Birkholz, 75, of Rockford passed away Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, with his family and loving partner surrounding him. Born Jan. 27, 1937, in Hazen, N.D., son of Arthur and Rosalie (Kruckenberg) Birkholz. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1957 on the USS Coral Sea (CVA-43) in the Mediterranean Sea. Married Helen Stenberg-White on Dec. 31, 1957; she died January 1994. Worked for Sears, Roebuck and Company for 32 years, and then owned Kona Liquors with his partner for many years until they retired. Wayne was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, fisherman, hunter and member of the NRA. Survived by daughters, Kathy (Phil) Adams and Linda (Larry) Baxter; son, Bill (Sandy) White; sisters, Florence Bullinger, Elda Bigalow and Shirley Fite; brothers, Gordon, Richard, Marvin, Gary, John and Jim; loving partner, Norma Barnes; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Predeceased also by his parents; sister, Nora; brother, Roger; and son, Bob White. Service at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory, Rockford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Road, with visitation from 5 p.m. to service time. In honor of his memory, please wear your favorite sporting, fishing or hunting wear to the service.
