William Chandler Obituary

WILLIAM GORDON CHANDLER beloved dad, grandpa and brother, 81 MACHESNEY PARK - William Gordon Chandler, 81, of Machesney Park went home Friday, June 3, 2011. Born Dec. 14, 1929, in Huntingdon, Tenn., the son of James and Lela (Hill) Chandler. Veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army. Married Casey Jordan on July 6, 1950, in Mississippi. Employed as a Class A machinist by Sundstrand for 34 years, retiring in 1983. He loved spending time with family and enjoyed camping, fishing and buying new vehicles. Survivors include daughter, Phyllis (Roger Millsap) Arnold; grandson Troy Arnold; brothers, Billie "Doc" (Betty) and Larry P. (Marylee) Chandler; aunt, Laverne Kirk of Tennessee; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by parents; his wife in 1996; grandson, Brian in 1994; and brothers, Nathan and Glenn. The family wishes to thank Julie Erickson and Zetta C. of OSF Hospice. Service at 11 a.m. Monday, June 6, in Delehanty Funeral Home Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park. Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 5, in the funeral home. For more information, visit delehantyfh.com.

I was so sorry to hear we lost Uncle Gordon. I have nothing but the fondest childhood memories of when he and Aunt Casey would come visit us in St Louis. He was a good man and will be greatly missed.
