William McGary Obituary

WILLIAM LOWREY 'MAC' MCGARY, 91 ROCKFORD - William Lowrey "Mac" McGary, 91, of Rockford died at 9:18 p.m. Sunday, June 12, 2011, in his home. Born Aug. 29, 1919, in Newcastle, Pa., the son of Lowrey and Margaret (O'Brien) McGary. Mr. McGary served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a technical sergeant and was stationed in Smyrna, Tenn., during World War II. He married Lucille Smith of Watertown, Tenn., on May 15, 1943. His beloved "Ceil" predeceased him Sept. 21, 2007, after 64 years of marriage. Mac was a jeweler and watch repairman at Bolanders, Lindquist and Busch Jewelers. He was an avid baseball player and fan, even being called up to the pros just as he joined the Army. Mr. McGary was beloved by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survived by his children, William David (Julie) McGary of Rockford and Patricia Ann Anagnostakis of Atlanta; son-in-law, Gary Kreitlow of Rockford; grandchildren George Agnos, Alexandra Anagnostakis and James (Alena) Anagnostakis; great-grandchildren Eric, John, Patricia and Kai; brother, Glenn Joe (Luann) McGary of Rockford; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased also by a daughter, Margaret, on April 7, 2010. Memorial visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, June 17, at Olson Funeral & Cremation Services Ltd., North Main Chapel, 2811 N.
