W.O. CILLE ARNOLD ROCKFORD - W. O. Cille Arnold was born Oct. 30, 1929, in Athens, Ala., and departed this life Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012. She graduated from Trinity High School and upon moving to Rockford was employed by National Lock Co., for 32 years before retiring. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church for more than 66 years, acting as president of the Usher Board for 21 years, and was instrumental in organizing the Usher's Council. Sister Arnold was dedicated to the community and was recently inducted into the Wall of Fame at St. Elizabeth for volunteering in the kitchen for more than 30 years. In addition, she served an as election judge for many years and was a proud member of the National Council of Negro Women. She leaves to cherish her memory, God daughter, Rietha (Daryl) Cummings; uncle, Phinis Horton of California; nieces, Catherine Jones and Debra Malone; nephew, Larry (Maxine) Sowell; a host of other nieces, nephews and cousins; and dear friend, James 'JR' Reed of Rockford. Predeceased by parents, Willie Arnold and Minnie Martindale; brother, Horace D. Martindale; and sisters, Mary Sowell, Nellie Malone and Tina Martindale. The family would like to acknowledge the many expressions of love, support and the prayers that were offered during this difficult time. Special thanks to Community Health Care and Visiting Nurses Association for helping to care for our loved one. Service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at Bethel Baptist, 724 Harrison Drive, with visitation from 9 a.m. to time of service; Dr. Newburn will deliver the eulogy. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
