Obituary Condolences

VIRGINIA C. ALLEY, 79 ROCKFORD - Virginia C. Alley, 79, of Rockford passed away Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011, in her home. Born June 20, 1931, in Kentucky to the late George Herman and Ora (Wethington) Ward. Member of St. Bernadette's Catholic Church for 50 years, did volunteer work at Rockford Memorial Hospital, and was a member of the Girl Scouts in Rockford since 1962. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards and was an avid Cubs fan, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchild. Virginia married Otis Alley in 1952; he died in 1989. Survivors include daughters, Pamela (Mike) Cushing, Brenda (Randy) Bretzinger and Kathleen Alley; grandchildren, Dana (Zack) Bunge, Amanda Cushing and Steven (Shannon) Moberly; great-grandchild, Annabelle Bunge; her companion of many years, Ray Sanders; brothers, Vincent and Edward Ward; sisters, Ruby Harbin, Georgia Pruitt and Sister Mary Mathias; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased also by three brothers, and two infant sisters. Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at St. Bernadette's Catholic Church, 2330 Bell Ave., Rockford, with visitation from 9 a.m. to time of Mass. Inurnment in Willwood Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Bernadette's Church.
