Erma Lean Alexander, 78 ROCKFORD - Erma Lean Alexander, 78, of Rockford departed this earthly life Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011, in Debes Subacute Center after a long illness. She was born Feb. 17, 1932, in Hope, Ark., the daughter of Clemmon and Jessie Jackson. Erma lived in Rockford since 1953, coming from Arkansas. She married Elmer Lee Alexander on Dec. 17, 1954, in Rockford. She was last employed as an assembler by Atwood Vacuum Machine Co. for 30 years before retiring. Erma was a proud member of Providence Baptist Church. She graduated from Yeager High School in Hope. Erma leaves to cherish many memories, including her loving husband, Elmer; son, Rickey Alexander; a host of grandchildren; great-grandchil-dren; stepchildren, Erma Simmons and Sarah Ann McGhee; special godchildren, James and Linda Horton and Kassandra McGhee; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her son, Kevin Alexander; parents; and sister, Ruby Wilkins. Special thanks to her grandson, Ryan Alexander, Mary Box, Mary L. Bell, Sharon Hutcherson, Dorothy Leach, Beatrice McGhee and the Providence Church family for your prayers and calls. Service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, in Providence Baptist Church, 2209 Clifton Ave., with visitation from 9 a.m. to service time. The Rev. Norris Flannigan will officiate.
