HAROLD W. APPELQUIST, 90 FT. MYERS, Fla. - Harold W. Appelquist, 90, of Ft. Myers, formerly of Rockford, Ill., passed away peacefully Friday, July 8, 2011, in Ft. Myers. Born April 25, 1921, in Rockford, the son of Axel and Ellen Appelquist. He lived in Rockford for 70 years before moving to Ft. Myers. Harold served as a U.S. Marine in World War II, he loved golfing, watching baseball and football, especially the Cubs and the Bears, but he really enjoyed watching his sons play different sports while they were growing up. Left to share in his memory are his wife, Marie; children, Dianne Watson, Donna (Maurice) Appelquist-Spencer, David (Deborah) Appelquist and Douglas (Debbie) Appelquist; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Leonard and Richard Appelquist; sister, Dixie Carlson; many nieces and nephews; and stepchildren, Connie (Jerry) Olin and John (Cheryl) Happ. Predeceased by wife, Eunice (Kitty) Appelquist; parents; and two sisters. The rest of the family would like to especially thank his daughter, Donna for all of her special care she gave to Dad. Service at 10 a.m. Monday, July 18, at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N.
