Marjorie Anderson Obituary
MARJORIE J. ANDERSON, 75 ROCKFORD - Marjorie J. Anderson, 75, of Rockford, IL, died peacefully, Wednesday, January 22, 2014, in her home after a sudden illness. Marge was born July 24, 1938, in Chicago, IL; the daughter of Dr. David M. and Lottie S. (Baranowski) Sachtleben. Marge majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry at Northern Illinois University, earning a BS in Education, and was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority. She went on to earn her Master of Arts in teaching from Rockford College, where she majored in Learning Disabilities and Behavioral Disorders. Marge was a teacher for the Rockford Public School District, retiring from Auburn High School. Mom was a member of Court Street United Methodist Church. She was a past queen of Alabet Temple #31 Daughters of the Nile, and a founding member of Ajeb Temple Daughters of the Nile (Green Bay, WI). Mom was a member of Partners in Educating All Children Equitable, as well as a member of PEO Chapter V. Mom will be remembered for her love and devotion to her children and grandchildren. Mom is loved and will be missed by her children, Jeffrey S. (Yvonne) Anderson of Rockford, Stephen G. (Diann) Anderson of Poplar Grove, Roger D. (Cindy) Anderson of Winnebago; grandchildren, David R. Anderson, Jonathan P. Anderson, Patrick S. (fiancée, Tiana Hagerman) Anderson, Matthew S.(fiancée, Mary Bohlke) Anderson, Carter D. Anderson, Ella T. Anderson, James W. Johnson, Jeffrey W. (fiancée, Grace Wallden) Johnson; sisters, Carol L. Czarnecki, Susan S. Howard, Stasia N. (Lawrence) O'Neil; nieces and nephews; her companion and dear friend, George Dowell and his family; her former husband, Roger L. Anderson; as well as her four legged kid, Willow. Mom is preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Audrey; sister, Barbara M. (Robert) McCann; and daughter-in-law, Rev. Patricia A. Anderson. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 1, 2014, in Court Street United Methodist Church, 215 N. Court Street, Rockford, with Rev. Calvin Culpepper, pastor officiating. Private burial will be in Belvidere Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2014, at the church, with a Daughters of the Nile ceremony to be held at 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given in care of Court Street United Methodist Church or Alabet Temple #31 Daughters of the Nile.
