JAMES WILLIAM BIGGS, MM, 87 LOVES PARK - James William Biggs, MM, 87, Loves Park, passed away February 8, 2014, in Rockford. He was born December 24, 1926, in Longview, Illinois to William and Ola (Cooley) Biggs. He graduated from Caryle High School and served as a cook in the US Army during World War II. James married Leola Mae Douglas on January 12, 1952, and worked as an Inspector for Sundstrand for 30 years. He loved wood working, playing bingo and working on cars. James was also a member of the Shriners. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Leola; his children, Daryl Biggs, Dennis Biggs, Carolyn (Don) Biggs Smith and Sherry Biggs Sisler; grandchildren, Heather, Jimmy, Devin, Adam and Amanda; great-grandchildren, Timothy, Summer, Hailyn, and Kaiden; and siblings, Harold Biggs and Audrey Johnson. James is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wayne, Clarence, Larry and Charles Briggs; sister, Mickey Biggs; and son-in- law, Tim Sisler. Funeral service at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2014, at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park. Pastor Kathleen Wright will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, February 14, 2014, at Sunset Funeral Home. Entombment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
