ROBERT W. BACHMANN, 86 ROCKFORD - Robert W. Bachmann, 86, of Rockford, died Monday Feb. 17, 2014 in P. A. Peterson Center for Health. Born April 4, 1927 to Fredrick and Edna (Schulte) Bachmann in Riverdale, IL. He received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University and his Master's degree in business from NIU. Robert was married in Rockford to Tina Kiikka on January 30, 1960. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. Robert was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, a lifetime member of S.A. E., and he held various officer positions in the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers. He spent his spare time volunteering at the Burpee Museum and went on many mission trips to Mexico with I Care International, providing eye care and glasses to people in rural areas. Survivors include his wife, Tina of Rockford; children, Tabitha (Jeff) Benson, Tim Bachmann, and Lisa (Rich) Zupancic all of Rockford; and grandchildren, Andrew, Alexandra, Bronte, Anastasia, and Nicholas. Funeral services 11 a.m. Friday Feb. 21, 2014 at Emmanual Lutheran Church, 920 Third Ave., with the Reverend Troy Ann Poulopoulos officiating. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. A visitation will be on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials may be made in Robert's name to Burpee Museum of Natural History or to I Care International, 880 Bedford Rd.
