DAVID W. FINGER, 53 ROCKFORD - David W. Finger, 53, of Rockford, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Born September 10, 1960, in Rockford; the son of Ralph and Shirley (Clark) Finger. David graduated from Guilford High School in 1978, where he was a 4 year member and captain of the JROTC drill team, traveling around many states to compete. He worked with his father in the family emergency power business and liked rebuilding engines. Following that Dave worked as a food and beverage manager at the Clock Tower Resort, was a longtime employee of the Register Star, and worked as a delivery driver. David was a longtime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, an elder in good standing, President of the Sunday school program, and enjoyed other duties for the church. Dave had some health challenges but tried to remain positive and optimistic about his future. To that end he was pursuing interests at RVC. He was very interested in genealogy and had researched his own at the church. Dave enjoyed reading, cooking, gardening and his greatest joy was helping people. He is survived by his daughter, Kathryn from Arizona; mother, Shirley of Rockford; brothers, Steven of Rockford and Paul of Rice Lake, Wis.; sister, Bonnie (Joseph) David of Cherry Valley, Ill.; nieces, Jennifer Shelton of Belvidere, Ill., Christine (Justin) Doe of Rockford, Ill., Michelle (John) Stichnoth from Dakota, Ill.; and special friends, Brian Holder, Jim Abbot, and Mr. and Mrs. Sharp. Predeceased by his father, Ralph. Funeral service will be at 10:15 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 324 University Dr. Rockford, with Bishop John Delavan officiating. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. prior to the service in the church.
