ELEANOR M. FRY ROCKFORD - Eleanor M. Fry of Rockford died at 9:45 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 2014, at Rockford Memorial Hospital, after a short illness. She was born May 1, 1920, in Freeport, IL to Alfred H. and Lillian C. (Glawe) Ludolph. Graduated in 1938 from Freeport High School. Married Leonard L. Fry on November 20, 1941. He predeceased her on September 7, 1999. Together, they became charter members of Beth Eden United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. She enjoyed playing the piano and accompanied a women's singing group in Rockford for several years. Family and friends were important to her, and family gatherings gave her great joy and the opportunity to spread her abundant love. Her smile and good humor will be missed by family and friends. Eleanor is lovingly remembered and survived by daughter, Karen (Robert) Brown of Rockford; son, James (Maureen) Fry of North Port, FL; grandchildren, Christine Brown, Lake Oswego, OR, Steven (Karen) Brown, Windsor, CO, and Jonathan Fry, North Port, FL; great-grandchildren, Milena and Andrew Brown of Windsor; and many nieces, nephews, and special sister-in-law, Barbara Ring. The family expresses their gratitude to Dr. Craig Rogers and to the Wesley Willows staff who cared for her for 16 years, as well as to the excellent staff at Rockford Memorial Hospital in the ED and on E4, C2, and A3. Funeral service 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 29, at Beth Eden United Methodist Church, 3201 Huffman Blvd., Rockford, with Pastor Doug Carroll officiating. Visitation one hour prior to service. Visitation also will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 28, at Sunset Funeral Home, N. Alpine Rd. Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
