JACK O'BRIEN, 86 ROCKFORD - Jack O'Brien, 86, died Monday, April 14, 2014. Born July 20, 1927, in Chicago to Howard and Lillian (Hocking) O'Brien. Married Edith Baker in Rockford on August 27, 1949. Employed as a printer for the Rockford Board of Education. Jack enjoyed playing cribbage and poker. Loved traveling the country in his motor home with his wife, and spending winters in Arizona with his friends. A former Cub Scout leader, Boy Scout leader, and member of a square dancing and camping club. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his entire family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include daughter, Barbara O'Brien of Palmyra, VA; sons, Pat (Doreen) O'Brien of Oregon, Mike (Cindy) O'Brien of Rockton; grandchildren, John, Tracy, Laura, Tim, Matt, Kevin; great-grandchildren, Kaelan, Alexis, and Tacy. Predeceased by wife, Edith O'Brien; and siblings, Howard, Harriet and Chuck. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 18, 2014, in Honquest Family Funeral Homes with Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford, Loves Park, with Rev. Dr. Ron Meyer officiating.
