Mark Meyer Obituary
mark e. meyer, 53 LOVING SON, HUSBAND, FATHER AND GRANdFATHER BELVIDERE - Mark Eugene Meyer, 53, a lifelong resident of Belvidere, passed away unexpectedly at his home, March 31, 2014, following his daily jog. Mark was born February, 8, 1961, in Belvidere, IL, the son of Eugene Edward and Betty Jane (Meyers) Meyer. Mark graduated from Belvidere High School, Class of 1979. On March 17, 1984, Mark married his high school sweetheart, and the love of his life, Lori Ann Fair, at Spring Creek Congregational Church, Rockford. Continuing his education, Mark received an Associate's Degree in Building Construction, from Rock Valley College; his Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Management Information Systems from Rockford College, and his Master's Degree, cum laude, in Computer Architecture from DePaul University. Mark's career began at Sundstrand Corp., Rockford. He was highly sought after in the workplace, working for Hyatt, Orbitz, Sears, and Prime-X Wireless in Lake Geneva, WI. An avid runner, Mark completed seven marathons, including "practice runs" from Rock Cut State Park to downtown Rockford. Growing up, Mark loved the "sights and sounds" of beautiful Lake Geneva. Years later, he discovered a "runners paradise." Mark's passion for Mopar "Muscle Cars" began early on, from Birthday cakes decorated with mini "Hot Wheels" to his first driving lesson behind the steering wheel of mom's 1971 "Plum Crazy" purple Plymouth Barracuda. Several project cars were on Mark's "To-Do" list, one of which was already on his "rotisserie" waiting for Mark to "work his magic." Plans were already in the making for a sunny retirement in Florida, where two of Mark's cousins reside. Surviving family members include; Mark's beloved wife of 30 years, Lori Ann; two cherished daughters, Paige Lena Meyer Zammit, Belvidere and Kirsten Nicole Meyer, Clinton, WI; his adoring grandson, Rhone Avery Mays, Belvidere; mother, Betty Jane Meyer, Loves Park; father, Eugene Edward and step-mother, Sharon K. (Paul) Meyer; mother-in-law, Margaret "Peggy" (Davies) Fair, Florida; brother-in-law, David Fair, San Ramon, CA; sister-in-law, Lynne (Robert) Maurice, Caledonia; very special great-aunt and uncle, Ann and David Danielson, Rockford; very special cousins, Julie Danielson, Marco Island, FL and Brian Danielson, Hollywood, FL; special friends, Jan Ann Shugrue, Belvidere; Dick Genovese, mentor, Olympic Luge enthusiast, fellow Mopar Muscle Car/Auto Show enthusiast/tennis partner, Rockford; Sandy and Tom Bonacorsi "Tom's Auto Sales", Belvidere, where Mark worked as a mechanic, and Mr. and Mrs. Royal and Helen White and family, Caledonia, provided Mark's childcare. Predeceased by father-in-law, Donald G. Fair, mentor and running partner, whom Mark greatly admired; uncle and aunt, Robert and Sally (Johnson) Meyers, Poplar Grove, IL; great-aunt and Belvidere school teacher, Betty Jane (Jackson) Meyers and great-uncle, Russell Meyers, Belvidere. The family wishes to thank the Belvidere Police Dept., Boone Co. Sheriff's Dept., Sergeant Pat Molloy and Deputy Candy Bunk; Dispatchers Dawn Lutzow, Teresa Nyman and Becky Knake; Boone Co. District-2 Fire Dept.; Lifeline EMS Ambulance; St. Anthony's ER Staff; Winnebago Co. Deputy Coroner, Wes Mathieu, and Dr. Harkey. Mark's love, loyalty, gentle spirit, great wit, and his "award winning" smile will be dearly missed by all who knew him. "Though many are called, only the chosen few, shall know His gentle love, for God shall choose the children who may walk with Him above. The inward sweetness found in him, encompassed all he met, and though the flood of tears may blur, the face we will never forget." Author unknown.
