JAMES T. 'JIM' MOORE ROCKFORD - James T. "Jim" Moore, of Rockford departed this earthly life Thursday, April 17, 2014, at Rockford Memorial Hospital, after a long illness. He was born October 16, 1946, in Athens, Alabama; the son of Clarence and Louise Moore. James lived in Rockford 42 years, coming from Akron, Ohio. He married the former Emma Williams November 26, 1967, in Akron. James was employed as a Journeyman Pipefitter by Chrysler Corporation 30 years before retiring in 2007. He was a member of the Skilled Trade UAW Local #1268. He was a member of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, serving in the music ministry and the men's ministry. James was a former member of the Welcome Star Lodge #36, where he received his 32nd degree. He graduated from Trinity High School, later to received extensive training at The University Toledo in Leadership and Development studies. James also graduated from the School of Hydraulics and Numatics. He loved singing, sports, gardening, and being a provider for his family. James leaves to cherish many loving memories, his wife of 46 years, Emma; two sons, Corwyn (Umi) Moore and Trevan (Melissa) Moore; three grandchildren, Bryson, Carson, and Edarus; mother, Louise Moore; three brothers, Billy (Ella), Preston (Emma), and Charles (Latatia) Moore; eight sisters, Frances (James) Malone, Nancy Bumpus, Joyce Harris, Gwen Spears, Carolyn (James) Williams, Annette (Kenneth) Townsend, Maria (Michael) Rather and Yvonne Moore; four sisters-in-law, Bertha Bibbs, Martha (John) Hammonds, Aquanette Mangruem, and Elois Williams; five brothers-in-law, Erskin (Melanie), Robert (Earnestine), Tom (Christine), Otis and Floyd Williams; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including his goddaughter, Shiana Pearson. He was predeceased by his father and brother, Edward Moore. Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014, at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 604 Salter Avenue, with Pastor K. Edward Copeland officiating. Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the New Zion M.B. Church Children's Ministry. Arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home, 2429 W. State Street.
