FRANCES J. ISOM, 84 ROCKFORD - Frances J. Isom, 84, of Rockford died at 7 a.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014, at her daughter's home. She was born May 22, 1929, in Champaign, the daughter of Wilbert and Hattie (Hite) Anderson. A graduate of Urbana High School, Frances was a die-hard Illini basketball fan. She was an excellent cook, and famous for her fudge. She was retired from the City of Champaign, where she was employed as a matron-clerk in the police department. She is survived by her daughters, Toba (George) Mitchell of Rockford, Monica Wood of Atlanta and Anyeta Isom of Champaign; grandchildren, Christopher (Patrice) Stark, Francine Stark, Timothy (Meredith) Brown, Kristen Brown, Kiwan Mitchell, Ashley (Simanga) Cele, Micah Wood, Valerie Wood, Serena Clark and Stefan Hutchison; nine great-grandchildren; and a special niece, Marilyn Grandberry. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Craig Stark and Val Stark; and 12 siblings. Private family interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Champaign.
