After a stroke last August she was able to recognize people and smile but not walk or talk. Born November 5, 1924 to George and Florence Whitford, she grew up with Brother Donald Myron in Loves Park during tough times. She attended Loves Park School and graduated from Harlem in 1942. Her dad died that summer also, Very sad. Through friends she met a young man from Wisconsin, Gerald (Jerry) Wallace and fell in love and planned to marry on Valentine's Day. He got called to WWII and they married February 3, 1943 in Richland Center, WI. She visited him in California and Florida and he came home when he could on the train. When he went to the Pacific, there were letters and poems. After Iwo Jima he returned. Family life was in Loves Park where Jerry worked at Woodward Governor and Juanita at Davewood Supply. The family grew to 6 with Gary, Marcia, Jill and Brian. Life was good with a close neighborhood and mother up the street, Bethany Presbyterian Church and summers visiting Lake Ripley, WI. She and Jerry liked square dancing and card club with friends. Time brought 71 anniversaries, weddings, 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Juanita is survived by her husband, Jerry; son, Gary (Alice) Wallace and their children, Mark (Shannon) Wallace with children, Bryson and Garrett, Melissa (Aaron) Stein with children, Makayla and Mason; daughter, Marcia (LaVerne) Johnson and their children, Karissa (Tim) Dooley with children Miranda and Melanie, Kia (Steve) Marlin with children, Angela and Joshua; daughter, Jill (Jim) Atchison and their children, Collin (Laura) Atchison and Chris Atchison (Morgan); son, Brian (Kelly) Wallace and his daughter, Caitlin. Two circles at Bethany, Shepherd Center at CUMC, Women's Club, Harlemites '42 and exercise classes at the YMCA then to St. Bernadette's. Juanita loved vacations and cruises, many with friends and brother Don (Dorothy) Whitford. They followed adventure to China, Australia, and New Zealand. Followed ancestry to England, Scotland and Norway. Followed warmth to Florida, Cancun, Aruba, Bahamas and Hawaii. They drove the North Pass and the South Pass of the Grand Canyon. However, most vacations were to summer homes at Lake Ripley and Lake Mills for over 50 years. Wesley Willows has been their home for 7 years at the duplex on Willows Lane, The Arbor and Health Care Center. Thanks to everyone there for their loving care since her stroke.
