RICHARD 'RICH' A. TRAVER, 58 MACHESNEY PARK - Richard "Rich" A. Traver, 58, of Machesney Park passed away peacefully Thursday, June 19, 2014, at home per his wishes. Born June 30, 1955, in Rockford, the son of Richard and Marge (Austin) Traver. Graduated from Harlem High School. Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Schweinfurt, Germany. Married Debra "Debi" L. Anderson on March 19, 1977, in Rockford. Employed by Schlichting & Sons Excavating and then to Singer Mental Health, where he spent 30 years as a stationary engineer, retiring in December 2010. Rich loved boating, water and most of all his Harley, his trips to Sturgis and many other destinations with Debi. His beloved Rockford Steel Pigs were a highlight. Rich loved spending time with his family in Florida whether boating or at the beach. There wasn't anything he couldn't build or fix. Rich was instrumental in starting the always sold out Venetian Golf outing and helping organize Pork in the Park, a fundraiser for Walter Lawson. He loved life and being with friends and his smile was a forever gift. Survivors include his wife, Debi; parents, Marge and Dick Traver of Holiday, Fla.; brothers, Ron (Pam) Traver, Dan (Debbie) Traver and Lester (Brenda) Traver; mother-in-law, Geraldine "Jeri" Billo; sisters-in-law, Cyndi Olson, Valorie (Mickey) Kalen, Carol (Jim) Shumaker and Vicki Anderson; nieces, Erin Traver, Tiffany (Tommy) Chamberlain, Tori Black and Megan (Ryan) Sullivan; nephews, Tim (Frosina) Traver, Brett Traver, Justin Shumaker and Brendan Shumaker; many aunts, uncles, great-nieces, great-nephews, special "dad" Paul Rostan and so many beloved friends who all know who they are and the way they have touched his life. Special thanks to his team of doctors that have given of their talents and gone above and beyond to keep Rich with us, Dr. Michael Kouimelis, Dr. Theordore Ingrassia, Dr. Jan Skowronsky and the amazing nurses and staff at OSF. Service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, in Riverside Community Church, 6816 N. 2nd Street. Visitation from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park.
