Roger Lindvall Obituary
ROGER D. LINDVALL, 69 CHERRY VALLEY - Roger D. Lindvall, 69, of Cherry Valley, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2014, at Rosewood Care Center, after a short illness. He was born in Rockford on August 20, 1944, the son of Richard and Marguerite Lindvall. Roger graduated from Auburn High School and was a member of the Phantom Regiment Drum & Bugle Corps in his teens. He married Cheryl Anderson in October of 1965, and they were happily married for almost 49 years. Roger retired after 30 years at Commonwealth Edison as a Load Dispatcher. He also drove a school bus for the City of Rockford Head Start Program for approximately 8 years in retirement. Roger enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a laid-back and gentle person who loved to joke around. He was an animal lover and helped his wife save many unwanted cats. Survived by his wife, Cheryl; son, Jeffrey Lindvall of Westminster, Colorado; daughter, Dana Gresbach of Pewaukee, Wisconsin; granddaughters, Kasey and Courtney Gresbach and Leah and Alexis Lindvall. Predeceased by his parents, Richard and Marguerite Lindvall and his brother, Ronald. The Lindvall family would especially like to thank Dr. John Alexander and Dr. Robert Hodge and the kind and caring nurses who attended to him for so long in Intensive Care at OSF Saint Anthony Hospital. They would also like to thank Northern Illinois Hospice for their kindness and help in caring for Roger. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 11, 2014, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 South Mulford Road. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the ASPCA, Attn: ASPCA Tributes, 520 8th Avenue, Seventh Floor, New York, NY 10018 or Northern Illinois Hospice, 4215 Newburg Road, Rockford, IL 61108.
