SANDRAETTA 'SAN' SIMS ROCKFORD - Sandraetta "San" Sims, departed this earthly life Sunday, July 6, 2014, surrounded by her family. She was born July 26, 1957, in Rockford; the daughter of Samuel Williams and Annie Pearl Sims, being adopted and raised by her uncle and aunt, Rev. Charles and Lena Sims. Sandraetta lived most of her life in Rockford before relocating to Texas, and after becoming ill returning back to Rockford. She was employed as a Senior Technician by Blue Cross Blue Shield. Sandraetta was a member of All Nations Fellowship in Garland, TX, and a former member of Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, Rockford. She graduated from Jefferson High School, Class of 1976, later to attend Rockford Business College. Sandraetta leaves to cherish many loving memories, her three sons, Darron Sims (Lacey Sinclair), Deon Strong (Robyn Morris) and Derrick (Toni) Strong; six grandchildren, Jasmine, Quincy, Mia, Jalen, Darron II, Monet and Major; sister, Vanessa Lewis; aunt who raised her as her own, Lena Sims; four brothers, Stanley (Paula) Sims, Terrance (Penny) Sims, Duane Sims and Timothy Williams; god daughter, Yolanda Strong; and special friend, Margie Williams; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents and uncle, Rev. Charles Sims. Home Going services at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, 115 Lincoln Park Blvd. Visitation from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service.
