REV. JANIE LEE MINOR-STRAUCH ROCKFORD - Rev. Janie Lee Minor-Strauch, of Rockford departed this life, Saturday August 2, 2014 in her home after a long illness. She was born December 27, 1939 in Dayton, Alabama the daughter of Willie Lee Quinney and James Barton. Janie lived in Rockford since 1972 coming from Alabama. She married Federal Minor Sr., December 23, 1957 in Dayton of this union six children were born; later to marry Evan Strauch in 1994, he preceded her in death in 2000. She was employed as a Engineer dispatcher by Rockford Memorial Hospital 25 years before retiring. Janie was a member of United Faith Missionary Baptist Church serving as an Ordained Minister since 1994, Sunday School Teacher, member of the Choir, lead singer, and a member of the Beautifying Club. She attended Marengo County Training School, later to receive her G.E.D. She also receive her Certified Nurses Assistant certificate. Janie leaves to cherish many loving memories, five sons, Federal (Elaine), Larry, Kenneth, Calvin (Janet), and Hansel (Leslie) Minor; and special daughter, Barbara (Roy Jr.) Spates; 10 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; a host of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband and her parents. Special thanks to Heartland Hospice and former husband Federal Sr., for the care given. Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday August 9, 2014 at United Faith Missionary Baptist Church 250 Pierpont Street. Burial in Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling, IL. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home 2429 W. State St.
