KATHLEEN (KATE) SCHWINDAMAN, 88 MESA, Ariz. - Kathleen (Kate) Schwindaman, 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, August 5, 2014 in Arizona. A lifelong resident of Rockford, Kathleen was born on November 3, 1925 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Lewis Glenn and Helen Brown. She moved to Edgewater, Wisconsin in 1930 and graduated from Birchwood High School before moving to Rockford in 1943. She worked at Sundstrand during WWII and played for their women's softball team. Kathleen married Donald Schwindaman in 1946 and he preceded her in death in 1979. Kathleen enjoyed traveling, sewing, and especially spending time with her family and many friends in Rockford and at the Good Life in Mesa, Arizona, she will be missed by all who knew her. She was a very giving person throughout her life and in death donated her body for medical research. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Survived by her children, Susan (Richard) Zordan, Donna (James) Beilfuss, Diane (Paul) Conery and Thomas (Barbara) Schwindaman; wonderful grandchildren, Jill (Matthew) Christensen, Erin (Ethan) Sobotta, Kelly (Kleber) deSouza, Michael Zordan, and Amy (Thomas) Schroeder; seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Kathleen was predeceased by her parents, husband, 2 brothers and 1 sister. A memorial celebration of her life will be at a later date. Advantage Funeral Home in Rockford is assisting the family with arrangements.
