BILLIE H. GUTH, 77 ROCKFORD - Billie H. Guth, 77, of Rockford passed away August 6, 2014, surrounded by family and friends. A devoted teacher for more than 40 years, she spent the majority of her tenure at Harlem Jr. High teaching reading to 6th, 7th and 8th graders (her favorites!). She was proud of her innovations in the gifted program, team teaching and classroom management. Upon retirement, she co-founded a catering business. She was a talented artist, world traveler, amazing choral singer, Scrabble ace, and world's worst charades' player. Always quick to laugh (at herself), she was known for her grace, style, and keen ability to help others recognize their own gifts. More than anything, Billie relished time with her family and supportive, fun loving friends. Survived by children, Barbara (Tom Wedes) Guth, David Guth, and Debbie (Patrick) Fisher; grandchildren, Nicole, Collin, Bella, Andy, and Nick; great-grandchildren, Eleanor, Carter, Charlie, and Abby; many nieces, nephews and cousins; siblings, Corky (George) Dagley, Bob (Pat) Hart, and Brenda Kidd; brothers-in-law, Jerry Williams and David Guth. Preceded in death by her beloved, Randy; parents, William and Dollie (Wicks) Hart; sisters, Helen Williams and Katherine Hart; and nephews, Lawrence-Ed Kidd and Brennan Guth. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, in Christ United Methodist Church, 4509 Highcrest Rd. Visitation from 9 to 11:15 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials suggested to Rockford Rescue Mission http://rockfordrescuemission.org; or the Literacy Council http://theliteracycouncil.org/. Fred C. Olson Funeral Home. (800)332-3574.
