GORDON L. OBERG, 90 ROCKFORD - Gordon L. Oberg, 90, of Rockford, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014, in River Bluff Nursing Home. Born Aug. 20, 1923, in Rockford, the son of J.M. Gilbert and Gertie (Anderson) Oberg. Served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Shirley Trank March 14, 1946, in Rockford. She predeceased him Nov. 16, 2009. Gordon was the owner of Carl E. Paulson for 64 years, retiring in 2011. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Rockford Lions Breakfast Club, and the Belvidere Moose Club. He is survived by his children, Kristine (Doug) Frank of Stillman Valley and David (Mel) Oberg of Roscoe; daughter-in-law, Joyce Oberg of Rockford; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Phyllis (Rod) Rewerts; and sisters-in-law, Arlene Oberg and Betty Key. Predeceased by his son, Bradley; and brother, Donald. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014, in Trinity Lutheran Church, 200 N. First St., with the Rev. Jay Quinn officiating. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park. Visitation from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service in the church. Arrangements by Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, Ltd.
