HELEN COURT, 91 ROCKFORD - Helen Court, 91, of Rockford, died Saturday, July 12, 2014, in her home. Born Dec. 13, 1922, in Rockford, the daughter of Swan and Adena (Lundstrom) Peterson. Graduate of Rockford Central High School and Rockford Beauty School. She operated her own beauty salon in her home and met her future husband, Wendell Court, when he sold beauty supplies to her. They were married Oct. 27, 1948, in Rockford. He predeceased her May 20, 2013. She was a lifelong member of Bethesda Covenant Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher and participating in the Rachel Circle. Helen had a very special relationship with her grandsons, and she especially enjoyed spending time with them and her great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook who loved to entertain, especially at their cottage on Green Lake, Wis. Helen also enjoyed traveling, china painting, needlework, and quilting. She was a Pink Lady volunteer at St. Anthony Medical Center, and a member of Mauh-Nah-Tee-See Country Club, where she enjoyed golfing. She is survived by her daughters, Kathy (John) Kenny of Los Gatos, Calif. and Sharon (Bill) Scheer of Rockford; grandchildren, David Kenny, Jeff (Liz) Genrich, Greg Genrich, and Brian (Desirae) Genrich; great grandchildren, Anakin, Simon, Max, Spencer, and Audrey Genrich; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sister, Doris Lentz; twin sister, Harriet Manley; and brother, Lester Peterson. Special thanks to Northern Illinois Hospice and her wonderful caregivers, Virginia and Olivia for their loving care. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, in Bethesda Covenant Church, 2101 E. State St., with Rev. David Lindfors officiating. Private family burial in Scandinavian Cemetery.
