FORREST PARKS BYRON - Forrest O. Parks of Byron, IL passed away Friday, August 15, 2014, in Neighbors Rehabilitation Center, Byron. He was born November 13, 1920, in Sumner, IA, the son of Walter and Beulah (Cluts) Parks. Forrest lived in Byron since 1925, and graduated from Byron High School in 1938. He married Mary C. Welsh in Byron on July 3, 1941. He was employed 10 years as a machine assembler and 33 years as a senior design engineer for the former Greenlee Brothers Machine Division in Rockford, IL, retiring January 1, 1983. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #274 AF&AM of Byron since 1967. Forrest loved to travel, and attend high school and college family sporting events. He enjoyed fishing in the Northern Lakes and golfing with family and special friend, Dell Wolfe. Forrest was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Beulah Parks; wife, Mary; and brother, Joseph. He is survived by son, Gerald (Roberta) Parks of New Lenox, IL; daughter, Kathleen (William) Carlson of Byron, IL; four grandchildren, Brent (Emily) Parks of Independence, IA, Brenda (Paul) Ivity of Southgate, MI, Brad (Molly) Carlson of Ripon, WI, Jennifer Dunham of Byron, IL; and ten great-grandchildren, Bailey and Madison (Parks) Hir, Ashley and Samantha Dunham, Brandon, Bryn, Brena and Benjamin Carlson, and Luke and Ethan Ivity. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2014, in the First Baptist Church in Byron, IL, with visitation from 11:30 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in Byron Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Serenity Hospice & Home, Oregon or donors' choice.
