SPC. DAVID J. BADIE, 23 ROCKFORD - Spc. David J. Badie, 23, of Rockford was killed in action in Afghanistan on Aug. 1, 2008. Born July 30, 1985, the son of Netha Annis Morgan, Daniel Morgan and Shawn Badie. Spc. Badie was a member of the 3rd BDE/1st Infantry/A Company Spec-ial Troops BN (Engr), Fort Hood, Texas. He attended Belvidere High School and Milton High School. He was an adventuresome daredevil who loved life. He was a romantic young man who was always willing to help people and would give you the shirt off his back. Survivors include his mother, Netha Morgan; stepfathers, Daniel Morgan and Shawn Badie; brother, Luke Badie; sisters, Breanna and Kassandra Badie; and stepbrother, Josh Morgan. Predeceased by his maternal grandmother. Funeral at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, in Emmanuel Lutheran Church, with Pastor Jim Roberts officiating. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. Visitation from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, in Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road, and also from noon until 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday at the church.
