LUCILLE ROSS, 82 ROCKFORD - Lucille Ross, 82, of Rockford departed this life Friday, Dec. 18, 2009. She was born in 1927, in Jackson, Tenn., to the late George and Lula Givens. Graduated from Merry High School in Jackson, meeting her first husband, William Howard Ross, who preceded her in death. They later moved to Alton, and had three children. Lucille moved to East St. Louis, meeting her second husband, Rodney (R.C) Moore, who preceded her in death. They later moved to Chicago, and had seven children. Employed more than 25 years before retiring, by Sperry Univac (Unisys). She enjoyed her second career as a sales representative at Stanley's Apparel. She was a successful mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and traveler, spreading love throughout the world. Lucille leaves to cherish many loving memories, daughters, Doris Manning, Deborah Spann, Charlene Yates and Wanda Ross; sons, Howard, Jerry, Darryl, Terry and Keith Ross; 37 grandkids; 42 great-grandkids; seven great-great-grandkids; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including special relative, Lessie Stanley. Predeceased also by son, Ricky Moore. Service at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28, in Washington Park Christian Church, 801 Concord Ave., with visitation from 11 a.m. to time of service. Burial in Cedar Bluff Cemetery. Arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home, 2429 W. State St.
